Document Management
DB Systemtechnik and DB group management use Hyperwave’s knowledge management platform to ensure all internal information is managed efficiently, kept up-to-date and shared amongst relevant employees.
Approximately 1,300 DB Systemtechnik employees use the Hyperwave-based document management system to handle technical documents, contracts and records. Employees also use Hyperwave-based software to operate DB Systemtechnik’s intranet, an add-on to DB’s main intranet. A key benefit of the Hyperwave software is the content generation from the current document inventories for the intranet. From the higher-level intranet of Deutsche Bahn AG, over 40,000 users can access the public pages of this system.
When selecting a server platform, DB Systemtechnik stressed the importance of user-friendliness and flexible adaptability of the user interface. Among other key criteria were low implementation and administration costs, open systems architecture and data security.
"The Hyperwave solution is an efficient, homogeneous system that makes an optimum work environment available to all employees throughout the country," says Dr. Rainer Schmidberger, spokesman for DB Systemtechnik’s management.
Prior to the introduction of central document management, file updates were sent as attachments via e-mail. The integrated version control now ensures clarity and rapid access times within the system. Users have access to the required documents from every workstation and enhance the efficiency of their work through simpler location and better handling of files.
