The solution is used within the Research Management Division of Partners Healthcare. Partners created an online pipeline for the preparation and submission of research protocols applications. This new online process replaced Partners former practice by allowing employees to migrate information into a database for better dissemination of vital research documentation to the appropriate parties.
From the time a research project is formalized and gains funding, this pipeline tracks the detail within the research project and the funding or grants that were allocated. The research project has a documentation pipeline from start to finish. For example, it could be a project around "Stem Cell Research" where administrators, researchers and finance personnel need to track every facet of the research project to its conclusion.
Because there are different research teams spread among the different institutions under Partners' umbrella, it was essential the product support remote users and have robust security levels. This is achieved by controlling access to information based on users' rights and roles within Partners through sophisticated and flexible access control functionality.
