Intranet Solution

The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead has chosen to use Hyperwave's entire knowledge management and elearning infrastructure. The software will be used by 2000 local authority employees in total.

The local authority chose Hyperwave's eKnowledge Infrastructure primarily to manage its internal documents and provide its employees with an intranet to share information across the organisation. Hyperwave set the standard in the knowledge management space by integrating its solutions to incorporate knowledge, content and document management, collaborative elements such as team workspace and workflow and an elearning function.

Initially, in addition to internal document management, the Authority will use Hyperwave to support the new local authority's commitment to openness and accessibility by automating the forward list and decision-making process. The authority plans to expand its Knowledge Management infrastructure, making use of the Hyperwave eLearning Suite for internal electronic learning and Hyperwave's extranet capabilities for a citizen extranet in line with the Government's UK Online initiative.

Keith Clark, IT Manager for the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead, says: "Hyperwave was the natural choice for this implementation as it is one of the few knowledge management providers to offer an integrated elearning architecture. Initially we need to organize internal documents and information sharing. We then plan to extend the project to utilise more of the infrastructure, allowing our employees to be trained using information held within the organization. In addition, Hyperwave provides the best technical fit and its adherence to open standards will simplify integration with our existing systems."
