MoReq (Model Requirements for the Management of Electronic Documents and Records) is the European standard for electronic records management. MoReq was established as the standard setting basis for electronic document-, archive- and records management for public and private sector organisations wanting or needing to adhere to European EDRMS functionalities in their development and/or use of appropriate solutions.

Background Information on MoReq2

On basis of a requirements document of the DLM forum, the European Union went to tender in 2006 for the MoReq2 project. MoReq2 is not only there to deliver new functionalities to the standard, but also deals with the ability to proof functionality and certification of MoReq2 compliant software products. The main improvements in MoReq2 will be the creation of a more flexible structure, the ability to represent national characteristics, extensions of the base module’s functionalities, the creation of new desirable modules and the development of a MoReq certification process and test.

The consortium, which Hyperwave is a part of, around Cornwell Management starts its work in February 2007 and is to be finished by the end of 2007. MoReq2 is to be first launched in English in 2008. Due to its new functionalities and the ability of obtaining certification, MoReq2 is set to become the European standard, in effect replacing current national standards inside different European countries.
