Telekom Austria’s virtual conferences increasingly requested by Austrian companies
Munich • August 6 2007 Lower Austrian business agency and Styrian logistics specialist rely on virtual communication – Cost and time savings with online conferences – Technology partner Hyperwave is Telekom Austria’s ideal cooperation partner.
Continuous contact with customers and communication between numerous sites costs time and money: employees are repeatedly on business trips or on location with the customer. We are pleased that two Austrian companies, ecoplus in Lower Austria and Knapp Logistik in Styria, have recently started using Telekom Austria’s eConferencing tools.
…explains Edmund Haberbusch, director of product management for Telekom Austria Business Solutions. The companies are thereby able to optimize costs for business trips and their employees’ valuable working hours.
Together with technology partner Hyperwave, Telekom Austria enables employees using eConferencing to hold audio and video conferences with one or more parties from their own workstation. All that is needed is a PC with broadband Internet access, a headset with microphone and a simple webcam.
ecoplus, a business agency for Lower Austria, communicates with employees in Eastern Europe
The business agency ecoplus, which acts jointly in a network comprising the Austrian Government, federal states, local authorities and EU institutions, offers companies, project bodies and cooperation partners in Lower Austria a broad service package including consulting, support and information. In order to be able to respond to developments in Eastern Europe, ecoplus now has sites in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Poland and Romania. Until now, employees from overseas sites have had to travel to the headquarters in Vienna several times a year for meetings. Conducting the lion’s share of these meetings via eConferencing saves the company a lot of time and considerable travel costs. The Business Agency’s employees work at several sites in Lower Austria. eConferencing will therefore also be used increasingly within Austria.

Styrian logistics specialist KNAPP relies on virtual contact with branches and customers throughout the world
Knapp Logistik Automation GmbH is a Styrian provider of warehouse logistics and a specialist in the field of warehouse automation. Because it has an international network of branches, including sites in Great Britain and the USA, it uses eConferencing for both internal and external communication: a video projector in the room broadcasts the online video conferences; employees at other sites are connected and are thus able to discuss presentations together using a virtual flipchart. Anyone who missed the conference is able to access the entire meeting on their computer at a later point in time.
To foster communication with customers, project meetings will be held over the Internet for projects currently in the presales and sales phases. In this process, user IDs will be managed independently by a client administrator from KNAPP Logistik on the eConferencing platform hosted by Telekom Austria. This means that temporary access for external customers can be activated very flexibly.
