HYPERWAVE SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT KIT
Hyperwave now offers a powerful developer tool for the Hyperwave
Information Server and the Hyperwave eKnowledge Portal.
October 18, 2000
Hyperwave AG announced the immediate availability of a Software
Development Kit (SDK) for the Hyperwave Information Server and Hyperwave eKnowledge Portal. The SDK reduces the cost of developing customized,
scalable knowledge and content management solutions on Intranets,
Extranets, and the Internet. The Application Programming Interface
(API) of the Hyperwave SDK integrates the Hyperwave Information
Server into existing systems - enabling a seamless link between
content and knowledge management and existing business processes.
Flexible Development Environment
The Hyperwave SDK is a collection of high performance tools based
on C++, COM (programmable in C++, Visual Basic) and Java. Developers
gain access to all the operations of the Hyperwave Information Server
and its database layer through compliant applications. This enables
easy adaptation to individual requirements and integration into
existing applications. The tools to analyse access to documents
or hyperlinks statistically, or to move documents automatically
from the server database to an archive are just two examples of
new functionality.
In addition to the API, the SDK comes with a complete reference
guide and numerous examples in various programming languages. A
Quickstart guide delivered with the SDK provides a short tutorial
by using a complete programmed example. The Quickstart shows you
how to use the Hyperwave API for C++, Visual Basic and Java.
Portability
Applications built with the Hyperwave SDK can be run on any number
of Hyperwave servers. The Hyperwave SDK is platform independent
and allows heterogeneous client-server systems to be set up. Using
a Windows client, for example, it is possible to access data and
functions of a Hyperwave Information Server running under UNIX,
NT, Windows 2000 and even Linux.
The Hyperwave SDK, is the logical extension of Hyperwave's platform
strategy: "Our aim is to make programming as simple as possible,
by using software standards and open interfaces for adapting our
products to company-specific needs," says Dr. Frank Kappe,
CTO and Chairman of Hyperwave AG. "This accelerates the integration
of content and knowledge management into existing business processes,
and allows companies to turn their e-business vision into reality
a lot quicker,"
