Hyperwave Again Exceeds Analysts' Expectations
October 20, 2000
Hyperwave's Quarter Three results (01 July - 30 September 2000)
have laid the foundations for further growth. These results show
a clear increase in turnover for Hyperwave, founded in 1997, a leading
provider of innovative content and knowledge management solutions
and enterprise information portals. Analysts had predicted a turnover
of 3.1 million euros, however the actual turnover of 3.5 million
euros was well over target. Com-pared to the same quarter of the
previous year (1.4 million euros), turnover has more than doubled.
67% share of the total turnover in the first nine months of the
current year was achieved in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. While
US turnover was 26%, with the remainder being generated in the European
subsidiaries in Great Britain and France.
Software Licensing Business - A New Income Resource
69% of the overall turnover in the current year was generated
by software licenses, guaranteeing Hyperwave an income independent
of third parties. The consultancy business represented 19% of the
turnover, whereas 9% was generated by support and 3% by training.
Despite large investments in research and development, web-based
training (WBT), and expansion of sales, the result of normal business
activity was better than expected, with a deficit of 2.5 million
euros compared with the analysts' estimate of 3.5 million euros
(both figures adjusted for financing costs).
Further Expansion Planned
To be "number one in the world" is the declared aim
of Gerhard Pail, financial chairman of Hyperwave. In the last quarter,
the company secured 17 new international customers including Klüber,
Merck and Nature Conservancy (USA). Hyperwave also plans to invest
in the Graz Research Centre for Knowledge Management. This will
give them access to a further 50 R&D workers and the ability
to maintain the current technological advantage in the future. This
new commitment is an extension of the existing comprehensive grant
programme.
Ensuring Competitive Advantage
An extensive expansion of the partnership business is planned
with names like IDS Scheer, debis Systemhaus, CSC Ploenzke and Pixelpark
appearing on the list of potential candidates. The aim of Hyperwave
is to be the worldwide leading provider of Intranet, Internet and
Extranet software solutions, as well as company-specific applications.
Hyperwave tailors these solutions to the individual needs of each
of its customers and companies like the Hessische Landesbank already
rely on the technology from Munich.
New partners, customers and the continuing international expansion
will maintain Hyperwave's competitive advantage. Renowned venture
capitalists are putting their trust in Hyperwave, and are providing
revenue for further expansion. It is anticipated that this capital
will be further bolstered by a stock market quotation.
