Hyperwave Forms Strategic Partnership With Cognos
October 11, 1999
Hyperwave Information Management (www.hyperwave.com), a leader
in knowledge management and developer of a new corporate portal,
today announced that it has formed a strategic partnership with
Cognos(R) (NASDAQ:COGN;TSE:CSN), the leading strategic vendor of
enterprise business intelligence solutions.
Under the agreement, Cognos Impromptu(R) and Impromptu Web Reports(R)
will be available with the Hyperwave eKnowledge Portal (HIP), a
portal solution built with award-winning, Web-based technology.
Cognos technology will enable HIP to access structured content from
database sources, providing corporate users a comprehensive view
of their business.
"Hyperwave is giving customers what a portal is supposed to
be - a true knowledge-sharing tool - and this partnership will help
us do that even better," said Gary McGrath, general manager
of Hyperwave. "We've been working with unstructured data for
over a decade, so we feel we're the experts on that side. Now, with
this partnership with Cognos, we can build a more comprehensive
solution that aggregates all sources of information - unstructured
data from documents, structured data from back-end databases, and
basically anything in electronic form. That means we can deliver
a complete intellectual capital package."
"Cognos is pleased that Hyperwave selected our enterprise
reporting solutions with the Hyperwave eKnowledge Portal,"
said Ted Jandl, Cognos area vice president of North American partner
channel sales. "The relationship enhances our strategic focus
on providing industry-leading information technology solutions to
solve our customers' business problems. Cognos' business intelligence
solutions leverage an organization's existing investment in the
transactions systems required to run their business. These solutions
will allow Hyperwave users to understand their business and make
better decisions."
HIP creates time for users not only by aggregating content and
reliably connecting people with the information they need, but also
by eliminating the administrative nightmare of finding and fixing
broken links between documents. This is made possible by the award-winning
Hyperwave Information Server, on which HIP is built. The server
enables the portal to extract and manage hyperlinks between documents
on its own, freeing Webmasters from the task of eliminating dead
ends surfaced through the portal. The result is significant savings
in administrative time and costs, as well as reduction of user frustration.
Other benefits of HIP include self-publishing capabilities - another
time saver for administrators - role-based interfaces, multiple
server architecture, collaboration tools and much more.
