Hyperwave helps Bavarian building society customers surf their
way home
Bayerische Landesbausparkasse bases interactive online property
finance service on content management technology from Hyperwave
January 08, 2001
Homeowners and buyers in Bavaria can gain access to online financial
advice and information thanks to Hyperwave's Information Server
(HIS) knowledge and content management software.
The HIS software is providing the infrastructure for Bayerische
Landesbausparkasse's (LBS) new web site (www.lbs-bayern.de),
which gives customers round the clock access to specialist advice
and information on all aspects of buying and owning property. Using
the site, they can also initiate transactions and even conclude
a loan agreement with the building society online.
Comprising more than 600 pages of content, the web site is managed
and updated using a database-supported content management system
based on the Hyperwave Information Server.
Featuring automatic link management, Hyperwave's software has reduced
the time and cost of maintaining and updating the site, a task previously
carried out by an external service provider. "Web pages are
composed dynamically from parts stored in a database. Changes that
affect several pages only have to be entered once from a central
location," explains Thomas Kürzinger, LBS central division
IT and Organization. "At the same time, the Hyperwave Information
Server's automatic link management function eliminates the need
to manually adjust hyperlinks."
Another key benefit of using the HIS is that information can be
easily added to the site by LBS employees without the need for special
web programming skills such as HTML. Instead, templates allow information
to be added for areas such as law, tax and finance. When information
is added to the web site, it is first published on a production
server within the LBS intranet, where it is presented in its final
HTML layout. Once the site's editors have reviewed and released
the content, it is transferred to the LBS web server at the ISP
for publication on the company's internet site.
To control the quality of information on the site, every user is
allocated with specific authorisation rights, whilst version control
ensures that only the most up to date information is published.
Expansion as Service and Transaction Platform
By using Hyperwave's Information Server software, LBS has the flexibility
to further develop its site as a service and sales channel. Future
plans include the handling of financial transactions via the internet.
By mid 2001, a full online banking service will be set up in co-operation
with the Bayerische Landesbank.
"The scalability and open architecture of the Hyperwave Information
Server will enable us to expand on the foundations we have already
laid down for our web site," explains Thomas Kürzinger.
