Business Intelligence for the Hyperwave eKnowledge Portal

Extensive access to structured data through partnership with Cognos

The range of Hyperwave eKnowledge Portal functions has increased considerably. Starting immediately, Impromptu and Impromptu Web Reports, Cognos business intelligence solutions, are available and allow data mining in more than 100 relational database and OLAP data sources from different service providers. Cognos is a leading vendor of enterprise business intelligence solutions. Now HIP users have access to all structured corporate data on a single portal interface.

Cognos Impromptu performs differentiated database queries and uses this information to create reports. These are then prepared by Impromptu Web Reports, distributed over the intranet and can be accessed in the portal with a standard Web browser. In combination with the search technology of Autonomy Corp., a Hyperwave partner, the portal is able to provide all of the digital information available in structured and unstructured sources such as backend databases, customer transaction data, documents, Emails, video and audio files as well as Internet and intranet pages.

The partnership with Cognos reflects Hyperwave's consistent strategy of providing an open and complete portal architecture based on standard Internet technologies. To accelerate the access to and exchange of corporate knowledge and to reduce business process time, the company has focused on ensuring compatibility with the applications of other manufacturers. Further examples include the integration of MS-Exchange or Lotus Notes workflow components or the new SAP Connect for access to SAP R3 systems in the Hyperwave eKnowledge Portal.
