eKnowledge Infrastructure
Building on its existing intranet, Bedford Borough Council has implemented the eKnowledge Suite, eKnowledge Portal and the eLearning Suite to form a complete solution that will form the basis for delivering its commitments on e-Government. The intranet will be rolled out to all staff and councillors initially, with the aim of expanding functionality to citizens as a personalised transaction portal. The intranet will be used to publish and manage all internal documents, members’ information and administration as well as general communications between citizens, partners and staff across all departments within Council.
Implementing information management technology is key to our commitment to the Government’s Electronic Service Delivery initiative and working with Hyperwave represents a significant component of the Council’s e-Government Strategy. Shaun Field, Chief Executive at Bedford Borough Council
Hyperwave’s knowledge management and e-learning product suite of applications includes content and document management, search and retrieval, workflow, collaboration and e-learning modules. The portal component gives a single personalised point of access to all information for all employees, members and citizens.
Hyperwave offered the most complete collaborative information management solution and the new intranet will enable staff to retrieve frequently-used information rapidly without having to delve into files. The scope for expanding the solution, in partnership with Hyperwave, to citizens and local partners will be a future consideration. Shaun Field, Chief Executive at Bedford Borough Council
Terry Jordan, general manager, Hyperwave UK said, "Local government is and will continue to be a major area of focus for Hyperwave and the active partnership we have with Bedford Borough Council strengthens this commitment. We feel that government agencies, such as local councils, will reap the benefits of a collaborative knowledge management system within three months and the eventual time, cost and service benefit’s will, in turn, be passed onto constituents and members of the local community".
